White People Drinking – The Controversial Comedy
Reviews
Very strong performances. Cool vibe. Lots of drinking. Smooth and engaging story. I enjoy simple settings with interesting dialogue and interactions. The characters were fun, smart, and unique. Lots of heart but lots of comedy. Overall fun show.

A great show that takes all of the topics and thoughts you wish you could say and puts them right in front of your face to their natural and ugly conclusion. Great acting, great writing, quick back and forth. Highly recommend it.

"White People Drinking" is a comedy that truly cuts deep into something personal of the audience's sensibilities. It's a show that challenges us and provokes a sort of self reflection long after the play is over. And it's truly funny, you will laugh as much as you grit your teeth as these characters test one another. Their chemistry and authenticity make every laugh, chuckle and "WTF" moment that much more palpable. This show is well written, directed and acted, it's not an experience you will soon forget. And one definitely worth seeking out.

Joining the ranks of the over 100 ensemble theater pieces in this year's Hollywood Fringe Festival the new play White People Drinking by Daniel Sugimoto is one you should add to your must-see list. The premise of the play is simple: a billionaire and his wife have a dinner party and they've invited two millennial couples who have no idea what they're doing there, or what to expect. . .and it's not what you'd expect either. With such a simple premise White People Drinking packs a big punch—it's a 90-minute roller coaster ride whose destination is to be determined until the very end.

It was my PLEASURE! to witness this show.. I am in AWE of the STUFF Sugimoto could do!... I mean what else is there that he cannot do EXCELLENTLY??? YOU are a RARE SPECIE Daniel Sugimoto... you are a man with a MESSAGE!...You have proven that you are not only EXTRAORDINARY with writing & performing Musicals but you have proven that you could do the SAME with Plays!... "In one fell swoop" You touched on my fave topics: God, Racism, Diff between Arts & Entertainment, "Fakeness", Abortion, Gender Orientation, Child Physchology, Exploitation, Starving Actors' Struggles, Alcoholism, etc. etc. etc. with Grace & Humor! Julia Lisa... your PERFORMANCE took me aback! you were OUTSTANDING & CONVINCING!... NO Wonder you're Dan's Partner & Equal!... to be honest, I did not recognize you the first time you were on stage!... BRAVO!!!!! MORE POWER!!! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this Power Couple! They are CLASSICAL as well as HIP/CONTEMPORARY rolled into one!

"White People Drinking" brings up all of the topics you'd never dare discuss at your in-laws' house at Thanksgiving. This uncomfortable, relentless dark comedy is a must-see this year at HFF. Three Clubs lends itself to feeling like you're actually part of the dinner party instead of looking on like most venues. These six brilliant actors take you on a journey. You will truly laugh, cry, and even yell back at them throughout the show. Do yourself a favor... grab a drink, sit back, and prepare to argue. Go see this delightfully bold Dan Sugimoto original.

Relentless and thought-provoking. It challenges the audience to lean into the conversation topics that we'd never enter into even with our best friends. Thoroughly impressed and enjoyed the experience. Still don't know if I'd bring any of this up at my next dinner party, but quite enjoyed the different voices crossing various lines labeled taboo. I loved the back and forth the characters would engage in. Every now and then when the tempers flared and the conversation raged, one of the characters would behave so on point that it earns an impressive laugh! Plenty of beautifully placed callbacks and actors that were impressively committed to large characters ( which I imagine, must be tiring to play) and never seemed to drop focus. Loved it, have definitely thought about it since watching, WOULD AND HAVE recommended to a friend!

"White People Drinking" is witty and topical, funny and thought-provoking. It effectively explores what happens when people are honest with each other about what's important to them, tackling a number of difficult topics without oversaturation. Passionately acted and full of laugh-out-loud moments, this show is a thoughtful and rewarding experience.

Whit People Drinking is a perfect show for the times we're living in now. It combines thought-provoking content, smart dialogue and lots of laughs. So you have a great time watching the show and afterwards have plenty to discusss. I recommend it to everyone!

Another brilliant play written by Daniel Sugimoto! White People Drinking got me hooked on its thought-provoking, witty, and delightful story and setting. The play immerses you into its setting by giving the audience the tables as the actors in the play where you can also order to get drinks. Aspects of the play are very charming and unique in this fashion and I recommend others to take part in it.

Super-duo Julia Lisa and Dan Sugi do it again! This show is remarkable. The content is timely, relevant, and delivered with a punch. As always, Three Clubs proves itself as one of the best Fringe venues, serving as a versatile backdrop for enjoying a show and some boozy treats. You will not want to miss this show.

LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! this is a brilliant piece of art. This show kept me right on the edge of my seat, get out and go see some amazing theater!

I have only one thing to say about this show... JAW DROPPING!! The things these character say will put laughter in your bellies & fire in your souls. This intelligent 3 dimensional humor/social commentary will have you at the edges of your seats begging for more. TRUST ME! You're gonna wanna watch this.

WHITE PEOPLE DRINKING is all about those honest conversations during a dinner party with 3 very different couples, each of whom wind up speaking what is really on their minds after the free-flowing drinks loosen their tongues. All the topical taboo scenarios we fear on a silver platter are brought to light in fits of wit and whimsy, often so fast that you may feel your head is spinning trying to catch all the sarcasm as it flies past your ears. Imagine sitting down to dinner with friends, enjoying a few drinks and then really saying what is on your mind including secrets, opinions, and unfiltered drunk words. Would your friendships survive? Sugimoto's philosophical, full tilt, facade filled commentary leaves no stone unturned, pulls no punches, and promises to offend in every imaginable way.
