Supportive White Parents
Reviews
Fun show and great music! Joy is awesome as is the rest of the cast. One of the funniest shows of the Fringe!

So much talent on stage! This show is solid in every aspect. A well-rounded, enjoyable, and heartwarming musical! I loved everything about this show! The cast is top notch, the music and lyrics were fire, the story leads the audience on a delightful journey, and the message is super sweet.

My friend and I were in stitches. The cast is having a great time delivering the terrific material and they invite the audience in to have a great time with them. Every performance was spot on and Joy has the charisma, charm, and talent to carry the lead. She is a fantastic. She’s got great comic timing and her facial expressions, especially during her first musical number with her white parents, are priceless. Pay extra attention to them. You will be laughing! The performance I saw received a well deserved standing ovation. Joy is a talent to watch. A great premise, a terrific lead, and a lively cast add up to one great half hour. Joy is a utterly hilarious as a young woman who wants to follow her dream despite knowing it will break the heart of her immigrant parents who want her to be a doctor. This one is a must see.

Absolutely fantastic. Deserves top of fringe, deserves every award. It’s one of the best things I’ve seen at Fringe. I am so pleased I got to witness this expert artistic piece on stage. Watch out world, Joy is only just beginning to show you what she’s got. I, for one, will stick around for the ride.

“Broadway, here we come!”
Seriously, this is one of the best shows I have seen! Even without the use of props and with minimal staging, the talent and skill of creator Joy Regullano and the fantastic cast; that’s all you really need.
Very clever, funny, heartfelt. Tiny little expressions from the actors and some very specific actions added to the story like sprinkles on a cupcake. This is truly fantastic!
Broadway will happen someday, I’m sure of it. And/or a development into a Netflix series. Either way, I’m a fan and I’ll be there. Joy Regullano is exactly the kind of artist and human this industry needs.

The play doesn't cover any uncharted ground but the infused addition of her Filipino background with her commentary on White and Asian Cultural differences makes the show fresh.

As a standout ‘camp’ production, Supportive White Parents is one of the most delightful surprises this year at the Hollywood Fringe. - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

I absolutely adored this delightful musical! It was a delicious treat at the end of a hard day for me. I laughed so hard my seat shook. I have to admit, sometimes it came a little close to home as I have a daughter at Berkeley (just like the protagonist) who recently had to announce to her father (an Asian parent) that she was changing her major from Computer Science to English (much like the protagonist who changes hers from Microbiology to Theater Arts and East Asian Studies.) The parental ‘disappointment’ that ensues creates the brilliant comedy of this engaging little piece.
Joy is so compelling to watch as she moves through her own Dorothy in Oz experience and the ensemble as a whole is balanced and energetic.
I loved that the ‘special effects’ include actors pantomiming the props and adding their own sound effects to movements – a hysterical directorial choice enhancing the comedic charm of the piece.
The only drawback of the evening was that sometimes couldn’t hear the lines. But this was due to audience laughter. Which is a good thing.

What an elite cast! The stage was overflowing with multi talented artists!
The writing from story line, dialogue, to lyrics are witty and hilarious. Being a Filipino American myself, I related a lot to Joy's story. The grass is always greener on the other side and Joy got to experience what it 'could' be like. I know of 'supportive white parents' and how being a 'best friend' to your child could be counter productive. There's a delicate balance to being too strict or too lenient.

THIS SHOW was SO GOOD. I recommend to everyone! So funny and so fun. Music and acting and singing was all great! Everyone in the show was awesome.

If you’re looking for a Fringe show full of charm and giggles packed into less than thirty minutes, give yourself the gift of “Supportive White Parents.”

The show is extremely funny, with entertaining music and great performances. Perhaps it leaned into the stereotypes a bit, but comedy has the ability to do that and get away with it. It was one of our favorite shows of the night.
