The Group Rep presents Nine Winning One-Acts play festival, fresh world premiere short plays chosen from more than 250 entries from around the world. The event is co-produced by Belinda Howell and Helen O’Brien for the Group Rep. All nine plays will be performed as one program, twice a week for six weeks, running June 8 through July 14. Saturdays at 4:00 pm. Sundays at 7:00 pm. Running time: 2 hours with one intermission. Warnings: Mature subject matter – suicide, adultery, prop gun, etc. Tickets: $20. Students/Seniors with ID: $17. A wide range of subjects was explored, and we saw the sometimes unexpected, sometimes extremely creative, sometimes hilarious plots presented in comedy, personal drama, satire, and thoughtful social commentary.
This is an exceptionally great group of nine premiere plays for this third Play Fest. The writing, direction and acting on everyone’s part were thoroughly entertaining and accomplished. Funny, funny, funny, poignant and thoughtful. All this is one show. How great is that?! This presentation from The Group Rep is a winner, and a great evening, or afternoon, of theatre.

Putting on this production is a huge task and this company deserves a great deal of credit for a splendid job.
An entertaining concoction of satiric and thoughtful short playets, the Group Rep’s third annual Nine Winning One-Acts festival offers darkly comedic and challenging one-acts examining the human connection and the power of communication.
Not one of the one-acts disappoints or abandons its purpose and duty as a work of art.
They are all staged with presence, class and skill.
For the third time, kudos also go out to co-artistic directors Larry Eisenberg and Chris Winfield for taking a chance on these virtually unknown playwrights.
