Let’s Write a Musical
Reviews
A work that celebrates life in defiance of death; skews the coronach’s keening into toe tapping tunes; tells an anguished tale of what’s lost in life’s twilight that echoes with promise of what the future brings. To escape what tomorrow holds a couple turns to the past and finds, there, salvation for their tomorrows to come.

Oh God can I even list everything!? The actors were so likable and charming, the guy who played Blake’s friend has the best comedic timing I’ve seen in a while. He knew exactly what little gestures and facial expressions to do to make his character just that much more lovable. Shirley is perfection – I loved her so much and want to see a musical based off of her life. Blake and Olive were so adorable and had great chemistry. And not only did this show have to be funny and sweet, it also had to be touching and heartfelt too! I wasn’t expecting to be tearing up at noon on a Sunday but by God was I in love with those characters by the end of the show. And the way David walked off stage at the end was so heart wrenching, real, and true to what real life is like! I hope everyone gets to see this absolutely delightful musical

Musical the original songs are a feel-good throwback tribute to the fun 50's era music, the soundtrack could easily belong in the same conversation with past classics such as White Christmas and Singing in the Rain, they are complemented beautifully by Coppola's well put together direction and choreography.

I am sure Lawrie Chiaro Smylie’s show at the Hollywood Fringe Festival, for which she wrote the book, music and lyrics, is a heartfelt and deeply personal story. Unfortunately heartfelt only gets you so far.

This was a fantastic production based on a true story. Poignant but very amusing, with memorable finger-snapping songs and choreography that brought great energy and style to the play. The conceit of a play within a play was very effective, especially with the “authors” in the balcony.
I could see it again and again.

The show is a face-paced musical full of highs and lows taking the audience on an emotional journey with two story threads of painful young love and the heart ache of losing a loved one to death. This classic- in-the-making is constructed of wonderful lyrics and tunes and exceptional choreography. It leads the viewer from laughter to tears and back again in an original yet timeless depiction of the circle of life.

Laugh or cry? This show satisfies both! Play within a play works wonderfully for this story of love’s roller coaster. The cast is very good and brings talent and enthusiasm to the work. I loved this!!!

This show has grown into a full-blown-Broadway-headed musical. It's smart, clever, funny and heart-breaking. The actors are sublime. The staging is explosive. The writing a bullseye. SOOOOOOOO much fun. Don't miss this. Take everyone you know. Prepare to laugh out loud.........and walk out with a smile for days.
