I AM SOPHIE
Reviews
Corinne Shor is sharing such a tale about a young French woman named Sophie, Review: I AM SOPHIE by Corinne Shor Takes Audiences on a Journey of Self-Discovery and Re-Inventionborn Kate, who did just that at age 15 when she became a high school foreign exchange student for year, lucky enough to live in Paris for a year with a family incredibly different from her own, yet so in tune with who she really considered herself to be. And I can tell you that Shor's ability to fully embody the mind, body and spirit of her imaginary character when she declares I AM SOPHIE is so utterly believable, it's almost impossible to accept that Sophie is just an imaginary character and not really the writer herself telling an autobiographical story of her own life.

I am a treasure hunter, an explorer, a secret sharer and a fool for surprises....which is why I count live theatre as one of the few places to indulge all the above stated habits. And I am so sorry this is happening so late, and the run was so limited, but I found a treasure (Ms. Corinne Shore/actress/scrivener), I want to share the secret with everyone (remember the title, it just HAS to reappear in So Cal sooner than later). The piece is touching, joyful, whimsical, vulnerable, wise, entertaining and TOO SHORT. Where's the DVD when I need a smile in my soul to lighten up the mundane? I love sweet lemonade, but believe me, a bit of tang brings something to you which comes close to brilliance. Try to get there this weekend. It must be shared!!!!! Merci et bon chance!!!!!

Skilled director Susan Angelo coaxes every emotion from talented actor Shor, who weathers each and every storm while holding onto her true identity as a French emigre in a strange land. The most fascinating aspect of I AM SOPHIE, in fact, is watching Shor reach for the heights and depths of feeling in her quest to make sure the sun always shines on an exuberant Sophie. Her existential conundrums keep the play moving along as Sophie struggles to experience everything that life has to offer.

What a wonderful show! Corinne Shor is mesmerizing, so much so that you can't take your eyes off of her. Absolutely a must see!

A beautiful story about finding oneself and how to integrate that into life with family and friends. And it's so much more!!! You'll laugh and cry. A wonderful evening of theatre.

It made me laugh, it made me cry, it made me think - what more can you ask from a night at the theater?

Shor is enthralling from beginning to end. From her first bubbly “Bonjour!” to her devastating breakdown, she pulls you into her story completely. Moments of heartache are balanced with ones of beauty, and while her tale can get dark, she keeps it from devolving into one of despair. - RECOMMENDED

“I am Sophie,” written and performed by the sublime Corinne Shor is a bold and fearless ode to what makes our hearts sing and saves us from the darkness…it is a strange and beguiling story, as only the best stories are, about a woman who becomes another woman not to survive but to thrive.

Take a look at “I Am Sophie,” if only to capture a lovely tale, but mostly because it is likely to make you hold up your own mirror to check who you are.
