In a world premiere presented by the Ammunition Theatre Company, The Fairy Tale Players are back featuring brand new tales…set to MUSIC!

Life as a grown up does not have to be challenging if you have the proper tools. If you’re a problem-riddled adult, it’s time to learn new lessons. By utilizing multiple musical genres, like opera for the gay cat ballet tale, or a Sondheim homage to a penguin on the verge of giving up his lifelong dream of flying, this new Fairy Tale Theatre 18 & Over: The Musical offers scrupulous guidance in a not-so-discreet comedy that is sure to pleasure even the fussiest audiences.

Playwright Michael J. Feldman created Fairy Tale Theatre: 18 & Over, the critically acclaimed stage show optioned as a television series for FX with Billy Crystal’s Face Productions, and currently by Warner Bros digital with Wildline Entertainment. Feldman has written for numerous TV shows including The Inbetweeners (MTV), The Neighbors (ABC), Deadbeat (HULU), Kevin From Work (FREEFORM), and an upcoming half-hour Marvel comedy. He created a web series with his husband called Michael & Michael Are Gay, set to be released fall 2018. Feldman is currently developing an animated feature for The Jim Henson Company.

Directed by Annie McVey, the award-winning ensemble includes Sheila Carrasco, Matt Cook, Jason Currie, Michael Feldman, Tina Huang, Jess McKay, Burl Moseley, Jason Rogel, Colleen Smith, Cloie Wyatt Taylor, and Greg Worswick.

Fairy Tale Theatre 18 & Over: The Musical runs at 8pm Fridays & Saturdays, and 7pm on Sundays from September 14 through October 7, 2018 (understudy performance on Thursday, October 4th at 8pm). The Pico is located at 10508 W. Pico Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90064. Tickets are $35 online at https://www.eventbee.com/event?eid=198363472#/tickets Information: (323) 628-1622 and http://ammunitiontheatre.com

And while some things need work (as all shows do), there is a sense of kindness that radiates in the work and one that presents a dramatic truth. The characters personified present a grand realization that touches the theatregoer to the core and sends us out smiling into the colorful night.

All of the cast members take their turn in the spotlight and music theatre lovers will be happy to hear references to the Stephens - Sondheim and Schwartz - in a couple of numbers. It's a lively 90 minutes with an appealing group of funsters who go for it every time they step onstage. More than anything, FAIRY TALE THEATRE is an escape. And that's something we all need now and again, along with a reminder to check our assumptions at the door and get over ourselves.

You gotta love a revue that starts with a song, “Turn off Your Fucking Phone.” Even better is that Ammunition Theatre Company — which gave us the astounding Giant Void in My Soul this summer — ups the ante with this modern olio for grown-ups. Creative dude par excellence Michael J. Feldman, who has proven himself au fait with this genre, has come up with a winner at Pico Playhouse — Fairy Tale Theatre 18 & Over: The Musical — in which a zany cast peopled with puppets deliver babe-in-the-woods stories and songs but with morals and cerebral roadmaps for adults. Clever, funny, X-rated, and wholly original, an extremely talented cast led by Mr. Feldman will have you like Jack in the palm of a Giant's hand.
