Anzu Lawson concludes her excellent one-woman show, Dear Yoko, by performing the classic Beatles song “All You Need is Love.” By the time we reach the end of her production, she has reminded us of the importance of loving ourselves and everyone else, including those who unfairly judged us, and those who withheld their love from us...
I recommend this witty, redemptive production.
Solidly written by Lawson and Joerg Stoeffel, Dear Yoko is both moving and entertaining, in addition to being a superb showcase for Lawson’s talents. And there is a great deal worthy of showcasing.
Jessica Lynn Johnson developed and directed this show as a highly informative and very tight production. The audience takes part as that every lovin’ fly on the wall(s), while Anzu captures the spirit and aura of Yoko, down to mimicking her through her words and actions.
