Hollywood Fringe Festival 2018 Encore Award Winner!

A play about an American Dream deferred. An intimate and salacious look into the lives of Slim and Cavale, two artists that are coming to terms with a dream deferred. In a constant state of unrest, these two characters battle with difficult decisions, emotional and mental stability, and ultimately, what truly fuels and defines them. Wrought by symbolism and abstract theories, “Cowboy Mouth” showcases the adverse effects of the American Dream.

Loved it! Wonderful performances - the relationship was beautifully raw, intimate, and fully developed. Well done!

I'm not quite sure I picked up on that watching the play, although I do think I got the gist of it. The bigger question, in my mind, was the point that was trying to be made. There was a lot of discussion and a lot of back and forth; there was a lot of drug use and drinking. There were desires discussed, and a few acted upon. And there was a lobster man (who had a fantastic costume). But what sticks with me most is the end of the play, when Slim is allowed to leave and the Lobster Man returns to reality. I think that was the key point of the play — the need to return to normality that was required for Cavale to finally be able to take charge of her long-held dream. Perhaps. I'm still not sure. Even if the story was confusing, the performances were strong, under the direction of Sarah-Jean Kruchowski (FB). The leads — Joey Bothwell (FB) as Cavale and Eddie Mills (FB) as Slim — were just spectacular. Strong, emotional, raw, at times dangerous and unhinged. They reflected well the strong personalities and emotions of their characters. Additionally, Bothwell's singing was beautiful during her one song.

Actor/Producer Joey Bothwell soars as Cavale in this faithful rendition of Sam Shepard and Patti Smith's Cowboy Mouth. The intimacy of the Little Theater at The Actors Company made it feel like I was in the room with these two wayward souls, searching for their true selves amid the backdrop of rock and roll dreams, legends, and fantasies. Highly recommend catching this performance. It's spot on and holds some unexpected and joyous surprises!

By far one of the best productions I've seen in some time. The performances are poetically moving and beautifully complex in their portrayal of these fascinating characters. The costume, set and lighting designs wonderfully compliment the core of this compelling and thought provoking production. I want to go back again!

All the feels! Love the lobster! 10 out of 10 recommend. There are two productions of Cowboy Mouth this Fringe so make sure to buy tickets to the right one and see this gem before it's gone.

Intimate, unexpected and with depth. 100% on the LemonMeter! Strong acting. The setting really transported you to their hotel room and tumultuous relationship.

Expertly executed, well designed. The set was clever. I got sucked in to the story with the space being so small-it was hard not to go on a journey with the characters...and the lobster steals the show! I cried and I laughed. A wonderful Friday evening spent at the theater. Hooray local theater!

A tense, tender, melodic look at lust, heartbreak, longing, and the madness in all of us. Great acting by all!

This made me feel things - its a really great piece, truly incredible acting and quite a wild ride. You can feel the emotion and pain of the two subjects as they oscillate through varying levels of sanity and dance on the line of love and hate. It's short, but jam packed with gut wrenching dark nuance and odd hilarities. Go see this strange and gorgeous piece.

Incredible production of a show that could be difficult to mount. Sarah Jean Kruchowski's direction is on point and allows the audience to digest abstract text through incredible performances and chemistry by Mills and Bothwell. Well Done on a making a difficult play accessible and enjoyable. I didn't want it to end.

Incredible cast and amazing performances. I was completely engaged in the story and their relationship and was not ready for it to end. This is a must see show!!

Brillant cast. Amazing chemistry. So so talented. Absolutely recommend this play to anyone who wants to realistically feel like they went back in time. Can't wait to see what they do next. A MUST GO SEE.

The chemistry between Eddie and Joey was unbelievable. This is a must see!! The audience feels every bit of joy, anger, and discomfort with the characters during this 50min rollercoaster ride of a show.

Went to see Opening night last night of Cowboy Mouth and was rocked to my core. The intimate space made you feel like a voyeur in a slice of Cavale and Slim's lives. The Chemistry between Eddie Mills and Joey Bothwell made you feel like this show has been up for months. Perfectly acted and full of surprises (wait for the Lobster Man!).... you are sure to need a drink. The raw performances are engrained in my brain. What a great ride!

Good performances in one of Shepard's lesser known plays. Lesser known because it's less good than the others.
