Frequently Asked Questions

What is Better Lemons?

Better Lemons is a free Arts & Entertainment events calendar with front end submission.

Better Lemons provides its readers with a LemonMeter rating of shows, which come from aggregated reviews from critics and from audience members. Better Lemons also has articles about current and/or relevant cultural events, and it provides advertising opportunities.

It is free to submit event listings on Better Lemons, it is free to get a LemonMeter rating from audiences and critics, and it is free to be entered into the Annual Critics Choice and Audience Choice Awards.

Better Lemons is committed to supporting homebound and isolated entertainers and creators as they reach out to their online audiences.

Each registered production gets their own show page that lives on indefinitely and creates a space where critics as well as audience members can leave their comments and give a LemonMeter rating of Sweet, Sweet and Sour, and Sour.

To get a LemonMeter rating, a show page will need to get a minimum of three reviews from critics or audience members.

To be entered into the Annual Critics Choice and Audience Choice Awards registered shows will need to have a minimum of 3 critics reviews and a minimum of 3 audience reviews (the Audience Choice Awards need to have a minimum of 10 audience reviews).

Each listing that is approved is promoted on our social media pages as well as in a weekly roundup post of registered events. Events are highlighted in our weekly newsletter as well.

Better Lemons is your #1 calendar for online and streaming Arts & Entertainment from all over the world and is also the Home of the LemonMeter. Most importantly, the calendar allows specific time-zone postings to accommodate the fact that we are now an international community.

How do I list my show?

Visit Better-Lemons.com/register-an-event and fill out all the required fields and submit your event for approval.

What type of production can I list?

You can list any type of event that is a live performance or independent film. We have lots of categories set up for you to choose from and those categories will give you an idea of what submissions we accept. If you would like to submit something that is not on the categories list, send us an email via our contact page at Better-Lemons.com/contact-us and suggest a new category to be added to our list.

How long does it take for my show listing to appear on the calendar?

It can take up to 72 hours. So please be patient as we have lots of other things that we need to tend to.

Why can’t I see my show listing on the calendar?

There might be two reasons that your show is not listed yet.

  1. It was not approved yet.
  2. Something was missing in the submission.

If it’s been less than 72 hours since the event listing was submitted, please sit back, and wait for it to be approved. Every approved listing will receive an email from us letting the submitter know that their event was approved.

If it’s been over 72 hours since the event listing was submitted, something is probably missing in the submission. Please check your email and your spam folder to find an email from us that will give you suggestions on how to improve or correct the submission, so it can be approved.

Will I receive confirmation when my show listing is published?

Yes, every time a listing is approved and published, the submitter will receive an email.

Once logged in and on your listing page, you will see an Edit button on the top gray bar, that will appear above the Headline scroll and social media links. Click the Edit button and you can make necessary changes to your listing. Make sure you click on Update in the dashboard after you made the changes. The changes will immediately show on your live event page.

Can I edit my listing after the event has closed?

Yes. You need to navigate to your listing on our website and log into the website via the top right corner. Once logged in and on your listing page, you will see an Edit button on the top gray bar, that will appear above the Headline scroll and social media links. Click the Edit button and you can make necessary changes to your listing. Make sure you click on Publish or Update in the dashboard after you made the changes. The listing will need to be approved before it will go live.

Someone added my show to your calendar. How can I claim it?

Send us an email and we will make sure that you become the owner of the listing.

My show is at separate venues but I can only choose one? What should I do?

This is tricky. The best solution for this would be that you list it at the first venue and once the show closes at the first venue, then edit the page by selecting the upcoming venue for the production.

I have the same show that closed prior, opening again at a new venue. Do I need to list my show again or can I change the original listing to reflect the new venue?

You shouldn’t list your production again because then we will have douplicate listings of the same production. You should navigate to your closed page, log in on the top right of the page and once you are logged in, click on the Edit button on the top gray bar that will appear above the Headlines scroll and the social media links.
