Audience: Brian Choi
While the struggle for success and artistic integrity is not a new topic for any medium, there is always room to rehash it for contemporary audiences. The play teeters between memorable friends you leave away with, but also forgettable performances, creating an execution that feels hampered. High praise for the actors playing Ben, Nancy, and the bar owner as they quickly suck you into the brisk emotional rollercoaster of these performers, but I desired more belivability and character definition from Eva and Dennis given their few moments throughout the play. With some more emphasis on nailing the emotional arcs and moments for those characters, this play could be elevated to something akin to watching a solid Gilmore Girls season put succinctly.
